Sittwe is the capital and the important harbor of State, is located at the confluence of the Kaladan, Mayu, and Lay Mro rivers running into the Bay of Bengal. Originally a small fishing village, Sittwe became an important seat of maritime commerce, especially as a port for the export of rice after the British occupation of Arakan in 1824. The city and surrounding villages has 200,000 inhabitants. Sittwe is the entrance city to the archaeological site of Mrauk U. The monsoon is quite strong in Sittwe area; it can rain often and heavily. There are some interesting pagodas, monasteries and museum to visit in Sittwe. Early morning fish whole sale market is a place should not miss to visit.

In November 2016, Inspiration Myanmar will do the logistics for The Spice Road Classic, a Vintage Car discovery rally through the countries of Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar.
In November 2018, will be the return of The Burma Road Classic, in its 3rd Edition.
