Pindaya is a little town in Shan state. The town is very cozy with a big lake in the middle of the town many shady banyan trees everywhere.

It is famous for its Pindaya cave, the famous Buddhist pilgrimage sites located on a limestone ridge in Shan state. There are three "caves" on the ridge which runs north-south, but only the southern cave can be entered red. That southernmost Pindaya cave called Shwe U Min cave can be entered and extends for about 490 feet with over 8,000 images of Buddha. Some of the older statues and images in the cave have inscriptions dating 1783.

There is also the legend of the seven princesses having a siesta in the cave after taking bath in a lake nearby and they were captured by a giant spider and trapped in the cave to be rescued by Prince. There are sculptures of the spider and the prince aiming with his bow and arrow at the entrance of the cave.

It is also famous handmade umbrellas and Shan paper cottage industry.
